Whittling down our ideas into something feasible and practical to organise within our short time frame seems to be the biggest issue my group is facing. The song we are adapting (“To n’ Fro” by The Traffs) is an easy going, Sunday afternoon kind of track. While it would be easy to do a very simplistic non-narrative music video, our group decided that we didn’t want to sacrifice artistic creativity for the sake of our production being “easier.” Unfortunately, both me and another member of our group are away at different times in the upcoming week, so in order to have our first draft edit ready for screening on the 7th of December, we have had to get the ball rolling as soon as we found a ball.
We began with several ideas- a breakup, a crime-fighting duo who meet up in different time periods, a non-naturalistic performance, a beauty pageant storyline and much more. We decided upon mixing the ideas of the crime-fighting duo and a breakup narrative (which we want to edit to play split screen style at certain points). Combining our two strongest ideas gives us the flexibility to explore rather than limiting ourselves.
Stay tuned to see how we develop this idea in the weeks to come!
