Tuesday 28th November, Shoot day #1:

Obstacles

Our first shoot day brought with it many challenges. First of all- it was very hot! I tried to combat that by providing Paddle Pops for the cast and crew, only to realise that the freezer I had planned on storing them in had been removed (oops). I decided to make the most of the situation and poured what used to be rainbow paddle pops into the cups I brought. Sadly, not everyone was as enthusiastic about drinking paddle pops as I was. Due to electrical problems, the trains on which the band members were travelling were delayed, which pushed our whole schedule back by an hour and a half. We combatted this by splitting up and filming both in the cyclorama and green screen studios at the same time. Running between our green room space (the classroom) to the cyclorama and green studios carrying instruments, props and equipment was a bit of a hassle, but at least it was a good work out.

Discoveries

Because I was running back and forth meeting band members, cueing the talent and running odd jobs, I was unable to assist in the green screen studio shots. Luckily, Amber took full control and made the cast feel comfortable enough to improvise some funny skits in front of what was to be the line-up chart. We were truly blessed with all the extra help we had on the day- from Huw and Emily being flexible and willing to try anything to Jeremy being the room monitor for several hours. It was a hectic day but the extra help did not go unnoticed.

Cass does Emily’s hair while Huw ponders the mysteries of life.
