Throughout my next few blog posts, I will be discussing the components of our upcoming film Enfants Curieux.
Part Two: Costumes, set and props
- Our aim is to mimic the stagecraft of German Expressionism, so in keeping with the tradition of practitioners we have decided upon a fairly simple yet symbolic set. We visualise the film to begin in a white room with no furniture apart from a bean bag, perhaps a cushion or two, and a small pile of toys. The film will gradually pan out to reveal that this room is in fact a set inside a set, but once again, I won’t go too much into that because *spoilers!*.
- We imagine our two characters dressed in white clothes, and although our film is set in the present day, we were hoping that the costumes would echo traditional victorian wear. For example, dresses with big sleeves, white ribbons in curled hair and so on.
Stay tuned for more on our upcoming film!
