Reflection:

This week we’ve learned the changescapes as well as the dynamic systems. we’ve known that the changescape is not a product, they are more like projects or processes, in that they are produced by, through, and for the sake of an ongoing dynamic that is established between themselves and their perceivers (Gibson, 1968). My idea of changescape is that there’s a long-established aesthetic system which purposefully built to reinforce our experience and enhance our understanding of the complex dynamics as our nature, our society, our technological and psychological domains interact and change with each other in this world of change. A changescape is more concerned with the system than the structure, while a system is a set of accidental relationships that evolve, change, and also last for a long time (Gibson, 1968). The idea I think is to compare the past environment system to the present. I think changescape will make us think, immerses ourselves in the world of change, and makes us feel like we can understand the maintenance of the world and are motivated by its dynamics rather than obsessing over its entropy.

When we think about the dynamic system around us, the first came to my mind is the weather. The dynamic system of the weather changes every day, it always happens beyond our daily lives. However, I changed my mind into the plant such as flowers and grasses as my focused objective which compared its past and present to show the changescapes to the audiences by using the cheerful background music.  I shot the same location as I used before, I thought this sketch also can be related to the entangled which we studied two weeks before. By comparing, we could see how the dynamic landscapes promote the integration of science and ecological planning and design philosophies that can address the needs of a more sustainably designed landscape.

During the edition, as I said I want to compare the plants’ past and present, I used split-screen also the transformation of the colours to show the differences to the audiences. I used the close-up shots to show the butterflies’ movement with nature. In addition to that, I used several techniques as I haven’t used before such as PIP (Picture in Picture) also adding texts because my goal is to compare.  The dynamic refers to the constant change, activity also progress, I thought previous work could be useful material because they are all connected. To be honest, I never pay attention to the changes inside of my landscape before, even it was so near to me. This is a chance that I could see the constant change, it’s an interesting experience. Moreover, this is a chance that we can see and discover what’s happening to our landscapes.
