Reflections:

According to this week’s reading and tutorials, I found everything has it’s own power, as long as it can use its own power strives to hold on to its own existence. Everything whether it is more or less perfect, it will always continue to exist in the same force that began and thus in this position, all things are equal. In addition to that, we got more familiar with the word ‘vibrancy’,  according to the example of the drain in the readings, these capabilities are not limited to passive “stubbornness”, but also the ability to make things happen and produce results (Bennett, 2010). As they were all there as they were, I found in each of these lifeless things that there was something alive in it. In all, this week’s reading has inspired a new thought about the relationships between humans and non-human environments.

For this week’s sketch, I was so confused in the beginning also don’t know where should I start. The first idea that came to my mind is the sound of billiards, the sound when they crashed. Then I changed my mind to an interesting way which is the sound of the wind. I really like paying attention to daily changes in the weather, so that’s why I want to make the wind ‘alive’. I think the wind can be vibrant all the time. I really enjoy these experiences, I want to try to express the intrinsic vitality of the matter. Just as the reading says, ‘they were all there, so that I glimpsed something alive in everything that I thought was lifeless.’ In my sketches, I try to record the different perspectives of the wind, for example, the strength of the wind and the wind blowings, so on.

I think my audio still has a lot of space for improvement. For example, try to show the different sound of the wind as well as their differences in the only one-minute audio, not only just three parts. Try to use a more interesting way to present to the audiences which make the wind more vibrant. However, when I finished my audio, I shared my ideas with my friends, they still think it is a good idea but I should go into a deeper way to present it. I will try to improve it and take the suggestions in my later sketches.
