Another week, another blog post. Here’s to the first one in the series of weekly posts (curtesy of my final assessment for this studio.)
Our group was starting the pre-production works to start shooting on the weekend of week 10. I pitched the idea that our project be split into 4 parts/chapters, where each person takes charge of how they’d like to construct it. I volunteered to take ownership of the beginning. We also agreed that we’d write a monologue, which shall be a voiceover of the protagonist’s inner thoughts. Reason I wanted to do be the first because I wanted to set the tone.
When writing my monologue, I got my inspiration from two of my favourite TV series. Funny enough, both of them have supernatural creatures in them: The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Within both of the series, characters experience moments of loneliness and/or isolation. Because I am so fond of both the shows, I have been able to remember certain phrases that have been said and use that as my source of inspiration when putting together the monologue. One of the lines that I used in my monologue came from The Originals . The original said “you” but I switched it to “I” (starting from Tonight, you will sleep…)
