I’ve combined all 3 videos into one video to make it easier!
First video: Week 5 Exercise.
This exercise, we randomly acted out scripts written by each other and we were told to focus on lighting. I was paired up with Adrian and just yolo-ed it. Our script was pretty basic so that was a good thing. There was only 2 characters & they had 2 lines each so we easily divided the work. We decided to use Aria and make her play both characters (her döppelganger). She’s not wearing her green jacket and the setting has changed (pointing out the obvious). My downside was that I only did one take and just thought it would turn out well but it didn’t. Should’ve done another take.
Second video: Week 4A Exercise.
First time working with the scripts written by the class, our group decided that we were going to have a performer and a talent scout just wanting to sign her. The biggest issue whilst shooting this was the amount of construction that was going on in the background. The location was perfect for what the group wanted but no matter how many times we stopped and restarted because of the loud noise. Something that we could’ve changed was the location but it was the only area that we could find that gave the effect of a “stage” and seating area. Another issue was that the pole for the overhead microphone is visible in the top corner. Lastly, the transition from when the Margo is on “stage” to when she sits beside me cuts instantly because we did not shoot her walking down and sitting beside me so it looks too sudden. The good thing was that we decided to shoot the dialogue from 2 angles (straight on & from the side) because the crew was able to zoom in on my face to show my facial reaction (which was brilliant).
Third video: Week 2B Exercise.
This exercise was a continuation of part A that was done in the previous class (week 2, how that was ages ago!). We could’ve done this piece in another location and not stayed in class because eventually, everybody came back, started packing up and it was getting louder so the mics on the cameras weren’t able to pick up our voices. But that was like one of the first times we started using those giant cameras and it was a simple/straightforward class exercise. I didn’t like how zoomed up my face was in the last shot, just felt awkward/uncomfortable to look at. Maybe it could’ve been done at a higher angle but looking down at me to show how insignificant I am.
