Week 10: Workshop.

In this week’s workshop, we had the opportunity to sit with our group members and discuss our final project. Having met two days prior to the workshop to discuss our bibliography, we had a chat about our assignment and brainstromed some ideas on how to tackle this project, in terms of structuring it.

The theme of our assignment focuses on Attention in the media and the topic we decided to focus on was Game of Thrones and how people gravitate towards both the television series and the novel by George R.R. Martin.

Personally I think that we’ve came up with a  good structure on how we’re going to sequence it out. Hopefully, it’ll turn out good!

We also listened to an audio piece, titled My Lobotomy by Howard Dully. I found the narrative structure of the piece rather interesting because particular audio features of the piece contributed to its overall vibe. The way in which interviews were recorded in was done in a very personal manner – the conversations seemed like the microphone was placed rather close to the subject and were somewhat subdued. This helped relay the sensitivity of the subject being talked about, and really showed me the variety in which audio can be recorded to give various effect.
