In todays class we went through everyones video and sound pieces.
Almost everyone is ready to exhibit!
The works are looking great and we each had a bit of time to speak with Robbie and the other students about possible changes to pieces.
I had edited two versions for the exhibition. The first option I had was the piece that showed all four of the models on the screen at once (the original).

The second option was the piece that showed only one individual model at once on the screen(the individual).

The more I look at these works side by side the clearer I become as to which I prefer (the original). When thinking about the space at signal I tend to lean toward the other piece (the individual).
At the beginning I was thinking to test both these works t signal to see which would be best for the exhibition. Instead I have decided to go with my original idea, I initially thought that the second option (the individual piece) worked better for the art space of signal as it gives it all away at once. This means that even people passing by would have an understanding of my work. Yet for some reason I still felt that my original piece was better, well thought out and clean and the individual piece was scattered and too obvious.
This is where I decided I would go with my original idea. Rather than seeing it as vague or unclear I saw it as ambiguous and now able of having more than one interpretation. For example my first shot (where everyone is exposed and staring out) still provides one element to my overall piece which is the feeling that comes along with exposure. It also causes the reaction of voyeurism that I want the audience to feel.
By choosing this version rather than the other I’m only giving once piece of the puzzle at a time. For the people who will stay and watch the whole thing, the whole meaning will be clear, but for the people passing by it will provide only a piece of my puzzle, and although it is just a piece, it is still a very important message that comes across through the small part. It doesn’t need to be spelt out for everyone. My work tackles many topics as explained in my idea and blurb (that is also up on our our website ) and by viewing one part you are able to gain a basic understanding of it.
This is why I have decided to go with my original idea.
