When given the task to use different forms of media to express who I am it took me a while to come up with something I thought worked. The examples I have below may not all flow as a whole but individually I feel they represent myself, my likes and dislikes, and what makes me who I am.
Audio #1: Crowd noise at a concert
Music is a big deal in my life. I listen to it every day and depending on my mood I have a variety to suit my mood. I’ve been to too many festivals and concert to count and they’ve created some of my best memories.
Audio #2: Bourke Street Buskers
Even when I’m not at uni I love to walk around the city. I love to listen to individual musicians or bands along the street playing original music or covers. It’s also a great way to come across local talent.
Audio #3: Train station
Other than home and work the train is where I spend most of my time. So many people ask me why I haven’t got my license yet, honestly I don’t need it. Public transport can be frustrating at times but I definitely don’t hate it as much as other people. However, my myki is one thing I spend most of my money on, it’s pretty damn expensive.
Picture #1: Berlin 2015
Travelling to Europe in 2015 with my brother was one of the scariest but most exciting experiences of my life. I’ve had the ability to travel around Australia and internationally a lot during my life and plan to travel more in the future. Being able to experience different cultures and meet so many people has opened my eyes to how small my life is and the big wide world that awaits me.
Picture #2: Sydney Book Expo 2015
Over the last 2 years I’ve been able to meet such awesome people. Taking weekend trips to Sydney with friends and being able to meet my online friends in person has been an amazing experience.
Picture #3: Love of books
I was never a big reader as a kid, but I started to read a lot more in my teenage years. I do have to confess that it’s thanks to Twilight that it happened *the shame*. I love reading because it’s a way for me to escape and transport myself into a new world.
Picture #4: Bedroom decoration
I take a lot of pride in taking care of my room. I have an array of decorations, lights and little bits and bobs all around my room. It’s the one place I go to have peace and quiet and time to myself.
Picture #5: A dog person
My dog Jess is the one member in our family I know will always want a hug. She makes me happy and welcomes me every time I come in the door. The vibe at home changes drastically if she’s not there and I don’t know what I’d do without her.
Picture #6: YouTube channel
For the last 2 years I’ve been making videos on YouTube. It’s a passion of mine and a fun hobby I’m on every day. I definitely wouldn’t be the same person I am today if I didn’t start a channel. I’ve met so many people through YouTube that live in Melbourne, Sydney, London, the US. I don’t think I’d be able to live without it honestly. It’s the one place I get to be creative and express my thoughts any way I want.
Video #1: Room environment
I like to keep my room quiet and very relaxed so I use incense and candles to create a very zen environment in my room. When I’m not out busy running around I find my room to be the one place I can close off my mind and not worry about anything.
Video #2: Editing
This is one of the most therapeutic parts of my day. I love breaking down the raw footage and creating something that I can say is mine. It doesn’t sound that interesting to some people but I’m one of those people that find it fun.
Video #3: Rain
Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons. When I hear rain on the roof I automatically feel more relaxed. The soothing sound I find is perfect to play when I’m studying or trying to fall asleep.
I try to find inspiration anyway I can. This can be people, places, film, music, or anything I encounter on a daily basis. If you can find inspiration through others why not yourself?
