~ technology ~

It’s Tuesday night and I’m reading Potts Murphie theory in my lapses of attention in Foreign Correspondent. Both texts coincidentally merge in subject; technology. Correspondent Eric is wandering through a desolate Nepalese landscape and happens to stumble across a small, isolated community. They don’t have “technology”. No computers, no mobile phones, no internet, no electricity, no cars. No weather apps, just weather. Like Potts and Murphie, I wonder what impact does technology have on our lives? Does the simple fact that I write this post from a computer rather than a notepad affect the content? More importantly, would we be different people, with different desires, interests and goals in life if we spent less time with technology? There’s a tendency to lament what we have, and romanticise what we don’t. That’s why I’d like to think that without technology, maybe this would be me:

I mean, I like the idea of fishing, but maybe if I wasn’t so concerned with my Tumblr feed I’d actually do fishing. F U technology, thanks to you, I have no idea who I really are.
