At first, HTML is something that was so vague to me. By just looking at the HTML code that my tutor, Elliot, wrote on his desktop made me dizzy. ‘How could I even memorize and use those codes?’ I wondered. But then, after an hour revising for my HTML test, I started to get hooked. It is like learning a new language, the language of technology in which you use it to communicate with computers to deliver your messages. HTML is the abbreviation of Hypertext Markup Language and it really is the language of computer. Just like understanding a foreign language, if we understand the language of technology- HTML, we are able to know more about networked media, including its culture, tradition as also its operation.
Similar to human language, computer language, or HTML, also has the characteristic of systematic. When using language to communicate, users have to follow the rules of a language in order to make sense. For HTML, we have to strictly follow the rules so that the message can be exactly decoded by the computer. HTML comprises of markup tags, which describe document content, or the webpage content. Being able to know how to use HTML’s markup tags correctly, it means you are able to speak the language of computer!
