Innocent look into the world of Ludea

I was really intrigued by the guest lecture we had today by Dr. Troy Innocent and his take on the world of augmented reality and the idea of micronations and his Urban Codemakers project. His concepts of attracting people to ‘play’ the game organically by finding artefacts that have been organised in a physical space in order to unravel a narrative, draws many parallels to our current Final Project and subsequently has given us many ideas to work off.

Our concept of a transmedia narrative unfolding over the space of a few weeks and culminating in an immersive theatre event, is now being looked at in terms of our audience interacting as ‘players’ and discovering the facts with a sense of belonging to a specific group in opposition with another. The idea of giving the audience a set of loose parameters and guidelines to explore a constructed reality that blurs the line between fantasy and reality is a really interesting concept that we hope to achieve within our own work as well. Our project is marketed with more emphasis on the narrative development, but culminates with our final event which is starting to take on a more interactive and problem-solving model. Our goal, much like the goal of the Urban Codemakers project, is to have our audience immersed in the content and to be driven by curiosity first and foremost to uncover all the various artefacts across the various media platforms as they are released, in order to piece together a story of the clash two opposing forces.
