Final Project Ideas

One idea that was discussed in yesterday’s lab was the prospect of leading the audience into a space, where it would be ultimately up to them to explore and interpret the story that was on offer. Our idea was to have various different platforms telling fragmented parts of a narrative simultaneously. Potentially there could be a religious or historic undertone, which could be used to teach a moral lesson or to subject the audience to a different viewpoint. After doing some research on the concept, our idea turned out to be unoriginal, but still interesting. A British theatre company Punchdrunk put on a show last year called ‘The Drowned Man’, which immerses the audience in a period drama that unfolds around them in a constrained environment. The audience is encouraged to explore the landscape to uncover the story, which is a murder-mystery, that is revealed through interaction with the setting, props and actors. This model is very similar to what we were brainstorming, and it will inspire us to continue developing our own transmedia concept.
