I’m Sweatin’

This is my favourite rapper right now. His name is Earl. His first full length album comes out next week. Check him out.

Rap is an expression of self through lyrics, rhymes and wordplay. I appreciate rap as a genre because I respect the art form. It is also largely topical and follows trends and patterns like no other genre of music. Sure, there are a lot of sub-par rappers that give the genre a bad name, but then surely there are people like this in all facets of music. To write a successful, intricate verse takes skill and an extensive mental lexicon.

Here is a verse I just wrote:

I don’t know this Network, full of media,
Walk through the door, hi, pleased to be meetin’ ya,
Even though, my green beanie flow is speedy huh,
Word count up, my paragraphs are getting greedier.
My vernacular’s spectacular, as a matter of fact,
G-rated raps to distract you cats from the exact,
Reason I compacted this post, most don’t know how I act,
To attract a reaction, so we can interact.
Speedy type, typin’ as I sip on a brew,
Blended beans help me early if I’m feeling like poo,
So that’s why this verse stinks, flush it down, adieu,
Down to you, who can best me with a lyrical view?
