Eleanor, Jagger and Noah’s experiment was to see how they could re-create a scene using, one cutter, one bounce board and one light. I really was intrigued by this sort of idea, because it sounds very very challenging to do but after seeing their inspiration, and their creation from Noahs living room I feel like they did a really good job. Their presentation was really well presented and spread amongst Eleanor and Noah as Jagger was absent for the presentation despite this I still feel as if he had a big impact on his group. It seemed like the roles and work was spread evenly amongst the group, and even though they were a group of three they still executed some really great shots.
What I liked about their presentation is that they used point of reference shots, and showed them in conjunction with their own re-creations. I liked that they had a slide for each shot showing the point of reference shot, showing their shot, and showing a behind the scenes shot of the setup. I also really liked how they explained how they re-created the shots with the gear they were given, this helped me understand the logistics of their shoot. It also helped me understand what they were trying to achieve, as they had pretty clear limitations with their equipment and even if they couldn’t get the shot perfectly executed I understood their intentions. The fact that their presentation was so detailed and provided so much information shows me how much thought and work they must of put in. The only thing they could potentially improve on is probably their actual presentation/presentation skills, it was very detailed but in honesty they didn’t seem very confident in their work and what they were showing to the class – even though their work was really, really good. From this presentation I learnt that there is limitless potential with very limited materials, because despite having a very small amount of gear they still seemed to re-create shots quite well. I think this helped in the process of us deciding to not use any lights for our groups final piece, because I realised/remembered what Robin said earlier in the semester saying doing lighting isn’t just putting a light up and making it work.
