Presentation Reflection

Today we did our presentation to the class on our first investigative video piece where we showcased how we experimented with colour temperature and the changing of the white balance to see the effects it has on a basic scene. Unfortunately our first shoot didn’t go as well as planned, however James and Chloe managed to smash out our final product in under a few hours. I took on the role of editor, as I couldn’t be present at the shoot because I was in Sydney which honestly really sucked because originally this was sort of my idea, and not getting a chance to be there for the shoot was a bit disheartening. But nonetheless the results of the shoot looked really cool and different and seeing all the shots together back to back, and even side to side really proved the experiment (in my opinion) to be successful. I didn’t have much to really speak about in the presentation, purely because I wasn’t there when they were shooting and the rest of the group had it all under control.

Despite this I feel as if I didn’t really get to contribute I guess what I feel is my whole potential towards the presentation or to the making of the piece as a whole. I know in the second piece that I should try and be more vocal and involved in the process which I know will be a lot easier because I’ll actually be at the shoot etc. Some feedback we got from our presentation is that we should focus on one aspect of our first experiment instead of trying to do colour temperature and changing the white balance which I think is naturally what the group was thinking after seeing the results. Overall I feel like our presentation went well, and we performed a pretty successful experiment and hopefully for the next film piece we can do just as good, if not better.
