password – weektwo
This is sadly our week two/three sketch, despite this being an in-class activity and something that we all probably didn’t think too much about, we definitely could of put in a lot more thought and effort into it.
I found this sketch very hard to edit, purely because we didn’t think too much or too strongly about shooting with angles, framing, and lighting. Essential elements to make a sketch work despite the differing environment to what was originally intended when we were brainstorming the sketch. I also didn’t really realise how poorly we as a group executed this, until I was trying to edit this, it was extremely frustrating. The conversation that we filmed is a lot more cut and dry than I think we originally envisioned when writing the script and it was difficult trying to make this work in the edit as we didn’t have enough takes, recordings (and all the takes were different, with actors going off-script) etc. So going forward I know that we need to take the time we have and do the extra takes, to make the scene we originally envisioned come to life on screen.
I found it also difficult to adapt this scene from the script because of the voiceovers. There wasn’t a long enough pause between certain lines of dialogue and in my opinion made the voiceovers feel rushed, and out of place. I think going forward when I’m in a group situation filming I need to be more comfortable to speak up and say something if I can see an issue with the camera, lighting etc. So that it doesn’t come to the edit where I have all these issues with the very minimal work we did.
