Narrating vs Adobe Audition

I’ve been struggling with writing and recording a narration from the beginning of this project as mentioned in a previous blog posts. However after some thought I realised that I might as well give it a crack. So I recorded a voice over through Adobe Audition despite how cringeworthy and gross it was. I decided to use Adobe Audition because I thought I should again try and expand my skillset in the Adobe suite with a new program etc.

I recorded the narration a few times tweaking the script, and playing around with some effects and also accidentally deleting one recording at one point. I’ve only ever used Adobe Audition once before in Media 1 for our final assignment. I honestly had no idea how to use the program last semester, but since then have used it for a few little different things which has increased my knowledge in the program which made it a bit easier to pick up.

I added the effects surround reverb and vocal enhancer to the track so that the audio would sound more full and clear. I mostly did this to increase the quality of the narration, despite it being recorded through a pair of head phones in my room. I imported the audio directly into the premiere and placed in positions of the piece where I thought appropriate and necessary, however upon reviewing it back I felt it was almost too cringeworthy. I even sourced feed back from a few friends that I live with and they said the same thing. So I decided for the rough cut to submit my film without the narration and see what James would say. Because as I’ve said I’ve been struggling with this since almost the beginning.
