Today after class Izzi, Pat and myself worked on editing our film again but more focused on colour grading and making some extra touches. We had some constraints about not being able to use premiere in the editing suites because Izzi’s version of premiere on her laptop is a newer version compared to the one that is installed in the edit suites. So that really sucks but we managed to get some things done today, even if it wasn’t a lot.
Pat and I sorted out putting a time stamp onto the ‘CCTV’ footage which proved a lot harder than originally thought. Even though I watched a few tutorials on YouTube like these ones (Video One + Video Two) but still had some trouble trying to get the time stamp to the point we wanted. However we persevered and somehow figured out how to get it at the point we wanted as you can see here:
We moved the timer onto the right bottom side of the panel and added the ‘CM2’ (camera two) which wasn’t originally going to be included but we figured since we used multiple cameras and we want to make it known to the audience that she’s being watched that it might be better to include the ‘CM2’ text on all CCTV footage.
Pat and I also worked on one particular clip in masking particular areas of the clip to highlight a particular light in it. This was another YouTube tutorial learning curve for both of us, even though I learnt how to do it last semester I really needed my memory jogged on how to make the mask not look so obvious and harsh lined. On top of this we also used some LUTs presets for colouring grading a few clips that I’ve acquired from somewhere over the years. Pat and I found that some of the colourings were really useful and accentuated some of the clips however didn’t work for others.
We didn’t get a lot of time to work on the project today but hopefully after the feedback tomorrow we can polish it off to (finally) finish this film.
