This week we had to pitch our short film to the class, which was honestly a bit scary because our fearless leader Izzi wasn’t in class to show everyone the real guts of our film. I’m really excited to see how this film will come together because the concept and idea behind it is really cool and definitely has great potential, it’s just executing it and putting it together.
I think our group will work really well together to make Izzi’s vision come alive, however today it has really hit me just the sheer amount of work that goes making an idea come to life. There are so many variables that go into making a film and with just enough luck it’ll come out looking the way you envision. I’m excited to undertake this project especially because it’ll be really fun to experiment with cinematography to make the aesthetic we are looking to create combined with the soundtrack and editing.
On Tuesday during class we discussed what we needed to sort out in order to go forward with production. This included the need to lock in an actress, confirm a location, source props, as well as sorting out a potential schedule/ shoot dates plus organising filming equipment including cameras and lights. So lots to do and not really a lot of time to do it in as we all have differing schedules which is bound to happen with five members in a group. We’ve managed to lock in an actress who is I believe one of Izzi’s friends and for our location we are going to shoot in Ally’s new home in Hawthorn which is a 130 year old house, which is really freaking cool. Hopefully by the end of the week we should have a lot more of the nitty gritty details sorted out so that we can keep moving forward with the film, but really we are just getting started.
