week 10 exercise reflection

From week 10 shoot, I worked with Lisa and Renee. I am the director also the camera operator, because I clearly knowing what I am gonna shooting,, the camera angle and movement in each shot . During the exercise from last few week, I realize that ‘Your thought is belong you, not others’, even you communicate with your crew, with your assistants, they still can not get the exact thought from you. Such as a little detail in a shot, a small action you want to capture, that’s only you can figure that. Well, let’s keeping going.. Renee is my camera assistant; also she is in charge of audio. The most of my shooting are hand-held, it’s quiet tough for me, also my shoulder, so Renee and Lisa helped me through my guiding.

I am shooting at my apartment; part of my scene was using the Grand floor. The problem during the shooting is too many people using the lift, so it spends a long time shooting in there. Also, the lighting in the Ground floor was dark when I look at it in the camera, so I am using the LED light make sure it’s more brighter.

In my shooting, because I want to shot more on using different shot size, angles, and framing to analysis how differences between each of them, that’s the other reason I spend long time. We also got a unpredictable problem that the male actor (Mike) was too tall for me, it’s tough for me when I shot over his shoulder. I tried told him squat, but it looks strange. Then I got a small stool figure out this problem.

When we shooting Mike opening the gate, the reflection on the glass is so annoying! It’s shows nothing in the camera when we shooting, after I export it to computer, I found.. Wow…. I am gonna crazy!!! All crews foot are in the glass. So I might think doing some effects when I edit it. I will figure out that. Also, when we shooting that, the sound was annoying too… I think we did something wrong on the mixer. The sound listed noisy and loud.

Next step: EDIT, then analyze it, found problem and thinking why it happened then prepared to do next exercise on my fault shot. Keep watching Wong’s film and learning.
