Mona's Fairground

My Method of Working Part 5

Like I said, I love the filming technique of Wong Kar-wai. And I googled some analysis about his film. For example:
The scene choosing and structure of his film are all filled with a sense of reminiscence, the sorrow of time passing by and the cherish of wonderful memories in that times. They follow the same rules in scene choosing and picture structure. The scene choosing in ‘In the mood for love’ is very narrow, just like the old penthouse in Shanghai. And Karwai Wong had fully expressed the loneliness of the heroine by using this narrow scene. There will always been some certain elements in Wong’s film such as Cheong-sam, lantern, cigarette, mirror and clock. All these elements can be prepared before practice and used in the film. Wong more than once took light as the background, and feelings start quietly among the dark atmosphere. So I will imitate his technique to set up some scenes and take some pictures. I will consider an appropriate scene at night to avoid the noise during day time and also make the light useful.
