As part of my studio On The Frame, every two weeks I’ve decided to upload five frames from a film I’ve watched recently. This week I’ve chosen Sleeping Beauty (2011), directed by Julia Leigh. Choosing this film for my Australian cinema subject, I viewed this film for the second time with cinematography in mind. Typically Australian in it’s abrupt ending and narrative flow, Sleeping Beauty (2011) is a bold debut from Leigh, using somber tones and cool colours throughout the entire work. With a taboo and often hypnotic workplace, the film is haunting and often washes of the characters with dull nudes.
