This June for a month I am departing for the exotic and multifarious South American country of Guatemala with the aim to create a documentary which focuses on a local changemaker who is making a difference in the third world community.
This wonderful, unique, and attainable opportunity will not only serve as invaluable work experience for my media course, but will also allow me to make an impact on a developing community and gain a better understanding of the world, whilst developing skills related to my future career path as a professional filmmaker.
The documentary I create will help publicise these lesser-known changemakers and raise awareness of the change they are bringing to the Guatemalan community potentially expanding the impact of their efforts and educating the audiences about their significance.
The incentive to gain film making experience, leadership skills whilst also giving back to the foreign community are all quintessential elements towards my decision to travel with Actuality Media. I will also gain a deeper, more informed understanding of the world and those who come from very different backgrounds. Unlike most other study abroad programs, the Documentary Outreach trip requires and encourages direct interaction and collaboration with the locals. This type of first-hand experience will allow me to step outside the perspective of your typical tourist, and will allow me to walk away with a raw, honest perspective as an active participant in the world.
I am planning on covering about half of the total cost with personal savings and a potential grant, but I am still in need of some funding! If you would like to contribute to this one-of-a-kind opportunity abroad, just donate here on this site:

I truly cannot participate in this trip without your help and support. Any size donation is deeply appreciated!
