EDITING ADVICE

The film has came such a long way but there is still a ways to go. This is the very first edit in full I have shown to both my teacher Kim Munro and editing master Nick Moore.

Here was the responses:

“Too many false ending and fades to black before the action continues”

I need to fix the endings, the clip is way too long and in order for the film to work it needs to be shortened into less than five minutes. The work needs to flow too often the action lingers and ends then restarts its too stagnant, it needs proper flow.

“The music is too corporate and cheesy”

I actually couldn’t agree with this more, the music I was originally going to use was Piano tracks but I opted not to use these as at first glance there were a little bit mellow but I think if I explore the full piano album I can perhaps find some more pieces that are more in tune with the action on screen and reflect the emotions.

“Improve the title cards”

The titles are still to be decided, skinny text is recommended by Nick, I think I may use this advice.

“Improve cuts”

Cuts are quite sudden with the footage and audio, this is a minor technicality that can be fixed up.

“The hand reflection would work better at the end”

It’s one of the most powerful and reflective shots of the entire film, it would work more effectively at the end.

“The title is too cheesy and its about the hand difference not about the actual subject”

JULIE is the new proposed title of the film, as Hand in Hand is a play on words that would not only work better with two subject but also focuses more on the hand difference not the person. Therefore JULIE is simple, it describes the person and not the hand difference and would work much better.
