Introduction to Cinema Studies: Initiative blogs (every week) (Introduction blog)(WK1)

I have chosen Introduction to Cinema Studies for my contextual study for this an next semester in my first year. This is an exciting subject which will give us a look at a wide range of incredible film were well constructed and beautifully filmed. The first film we watched this week was ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ which is a brilliant introduction as this was the first film that was shot in colour, or at least was in colour as every separate frame was hand painted in colour to make this possible. A ground breaking musical and a film that set up the basic film narrative structure where there would be an introduction to characters, a character development,a plot complication, a climax, a narrative solution and a happy ending. This film was a box office success which led to the popularity of the musical on broadway and the west end and to this day this is a very popular and iconic children’s film.

Below is the blog structure with the respective weeks structure along with the films that go in accordance with the chapters covered in the textbook.

I am very much looking forward to writing many blogs this semester about the wild variety of films we’re covering.
