Tram Surfing

A few weeks ago I participated in a rather interesting shoot. Tram Sessions is an organisation that takes upcoming artists and puts them on Melbourne’s trams to perform their latest tunes. Oh, did I mention they made such occasions into music videos? As a videographer on one such project, I found the un-officious and warm way in which the whole thing was organised quite refreshing.

Melbourne trams and their G-forces can be problematic at the best of times. Moreover, Operating a heavy camera rig (requiring both hands) is by no the best of times. However, it seems that after a couple of minutes, It began to be more intuitive, almost like I had learnt a new skill like surfing. Ok, that is taking it a bit far… but negotiating a tram without the use of rails is quite a feat nonetheless.
