This article explores the  concept of wearable smart devices through a sociological context; namely the cultural acceptance of such devices. The article explores the complexities of how attitude, subjective norms and perceived usefulness determine acceptance of such technology. The researcher uses the example of the smart brazier in the context of Turkish society. Through quantitative and qualitative data, observations on how accepting test subjects were to such technology was collected. This data is presented to form the final conclusion;  that acceptance depends greatly on pre-existing values and beliefs.

The articles distillation of quantitative data is concise and important findings for this area of study are made. However, the sample size and demographic of those surveyed is problematic in its restriction to university students. Such a demographic may not represent the opinion of the wider public.

The article’s use of a sociological lens to examine wearables through is one that is very useful in our area of research. The article will help us as we conduct our own qualitative data gathering and will assist with our discussions on how our chosen technological medium affects culture.
