Here we go…

Well, my first blog post. Ever. Let’s just say I’m Michael P Firus. Oh, that’s me and my pal the sun btw. I’m not entirely sure it’s acceptable for me to say I have a connection to media in any particularly special way. We’re all pretty much media creators and indeed all media consumers so don’t feel weird when someone pretentiously claims to be a “media professional”. I do freelance editing and videography, but just typing that makes me feel unwell. I started making short “productions” (I use that term loosely) at about ten and again, mentioning this fills me with a type of malignant and resentful TopScreen-esque hangover. But those days were fun, right? No real responsibility connected to the stuff I made. No deadlines. No weirdness when talking with one’s peers about “what you do” with your life as an 18 year old uni student.

One thinks to oneself as one creates movie scenes in one’s mind whilst listening to one’s favorite epic track that this is gold and probably unique. But then one realizes that everybody probably does this, and then you think: thank all that is good an holy I have a year or two of uni left before I’m really out in the big bad world.

Wow. I fear that was way too cynical. Never mind! Main thing is to keep ego in a place that only you can see. Because you have to be really nice but also very very secretly egotistical… If you want to possess the panache to sell a screen play or land a creative position that is… Or have contacts. Either way good luck!
