A Collaboration with Claudia Nankervis and Sarah Brooke…
I think it’s amazing how much truly goes on in the minds of those around us.
Sometimes I feel as if I’m constantly thinking, worrying, or day dreaming. It’s quite nice to know that I’m not the only person in the world having these wild and crazy thought processes and imaginations.
Artists truly do have some of the most beautiful minds. They take all of those little crazy thoughts and get down into the real nitty gritty bits of them. They unravel and unmask the feelings or notions that most people deem far too absurd to investigate further.
Mel Deerson is truly unique in the way her eyes and mind views her surroundings. She thinks deeply, honestly, and beautifully about the world.
Having the opportunity to research, meet, chat with, and interview Mel has taught me so much. It also reaffirmed for me that I am able to have these outlandish and unusual thoughts. That I am able to take these ideas and flesh them out further, find a deeper meaning to whatever they are.
Mel has this wonderful ability to see the bigger picture in the most tinest of details. To grasp these deep and important meanings from such fine life details.
She says that one of the main aims of her artwork is to prompt her viewers to start taking notice of what’s around them. Finding the little quirks, stories, and happenings that are co-existing in our everyday environments.
I can confidently maintain that having the opportunity to work with Melissa has reaffirmed for me just how important it is to try and stay present in my day to day life, and to take notice of, and appreciate, all of the little things.
