Monday 25th
This is the beginning of the last week of classes this semester.
Only a handful of times I’ve come to class early this semester (I can go on about why it involves a small time difference in my commuting that results in a huge difference in arrival time- I often end up on the slightly late rather than the extremely early route) and today it was to a tiny intimate class of only a handful of people. There are 15 minutes left now and it is now pretty much full.
This could almost be a metaphor for this studio and our projects! Even though everyone has produced and created so much content up to this point very little is shown in class because it’s all more about the process and the final presentations at the end of each project.
Project 4 Progress **Major Development Occured**
This may be the reason that until recently we’ve been sort of lacking inspiration for our project and despite constantly creating and plotting Vines we’d felt like we weren’t really progressing because it’s something we’ve been doing for weeks.. months (since Project 2) and there’d been no new sense of motivation. Seth picking up on feminist connotations in our recent vine videos last week has set us up for a new way of framing our work as we have and will continue to use feminism as a theme for our dialectical montage/vine projects from now on. I am very pleased by this decision simply because it’s something that actively concerns Clare and I and I feel using something personal can often pay off in creative motivation. It’s exciting to see how it will drive our use of dialectical montage in Vine.
