Week 6
+ Friday’s class each group paired with another group and we had to discuss our projects so far to each other, specifically our ‘things of interest’ and the one we’d decided to continue for Project Three. We then discussed each other’s project to the class. I found this a very useful and valuable studio activity. By discussing our project with Errol and Nathaniel, firstly the feedback is definitely genuine because we’re all in the same course having similar experiences and having others articulate your project is a good way to find out how clear you are at articulating your ideas and what points you may need to clarify in order to have your work understood. This is important not only for this studio and other classes but also in many other academic and occupational contexts because what’s the point of creating work when its purposes are miscommunicated?
+ I also found it interesting to learn about what things of interest everyone had come up with and the reasons behind their final choice and how we weren’t the only group that hadn’t worked much further than choosing a thing of interest to explore and conceptualising.
Week 7
– Only one sketch we completed by Monday’s class and we had brainstormed ideas and points to present
+ We discussed these brainstormed ideas and our rough proposition/probe for Project Three and were able to clarify our probe more and take into account feedback, this was good. Left the Monday studio feeling more settled into this project.
+ We completed fifteen sketches by Friday’s class.
+ Seeing everyone’s projects and experimentation with so many sketches I found inspiring, so many different ideas, techniques and thought processes at play. At this point I definitely find the emphasis on having as many sketches as possible a positive.
– Our presentation on Friday lacked visual content, wasn’t as clear as it could’ve been and went over time. We took into account all this feedback in order to improve and condense our presentation for the panel on Monday.
