By recreating Kuleshov’s experiments, this sketch explores its place in a modern context.
I’ve used the online aspect by creating the video on Vine and using someone surfing the internet as the subject.
The sketch explores the theory of dialectical montage in vine as abstract concepts relating to the character are portrayed through the juxtaposition of shots of the computer. This is modernised compared to the original video as concepts such as web-surfing alone did not exist in the 1920s.
In terms of Vine’s creative constraints- they complemented the video as each of the 3 takes is 2 seconds each and Vine’s format easily allowed for the shots to be composed together. This is the basis for many Vines as dialectical montage is used to compensate for the time constraints.
