This sketch explores the technique of stop motion animation in creating a microvideo for Vine.
Stop motion animation is a technique that creates the impression of movement of visual images; it is recorded, reproduced and the result can be broadcast so by definition it is a technique used to create video and films. The technique works by capturing one frame at time, with physical objects that are moved between frames. When you play back the sequence of images rapidly, it creates the illusion of movement. Vine allows pausing while filming so naturally stop motion works are shared including some of the #6secondscare entries. I created this sketch using paper cutouts to gain an understanding of this technique of how each frame needs to be thoughtfully calculated and arranged in order to pull off ‘seamless’ movement.
Sound used: I recorded the voice and the footsteps are from the sound effects archive on iMovie which is within the public domain.
