It’s that time of the year again! Back from a 5 week holiday; more like 4 weeks of working and lazying around, and about 5 days of actual holiday up in Sunny Queensland.
However, Semester 2 is back and what better way to start off my week than with ‘On The Frame’ class. I must say, I’m really quite looking forward to what this semester will unfold with this subject. I’m excited about the process of ‘cinematography’ and ‘framing’ and just the whole course pretty much.
To kick start this class, Daniel Binns, who by the way has been pretty awesome and chill so far, asked each student in the class what their favourite movies are and their guilty pleasure. I told him my favourite movie was The Pursuit of Happyness and guilty pleasure was Lone Survivor and American Sniper. However, I should’ve changed my guilty pleasure to Power Rangers, because I mean come on, who wouldn’t wanna just sit there and watch Power Rangers no matter how crap the acting is or how cheesy/corny/cringe-worthy some of the dialogues and one liners are…seriously.
After that, we brainstormed of what we think about the whole “On The Frame” thing – word map/word association pretty much. We came up with terms such as mise-en-scene, composition, aspect ratio, frame rate, etc.
It was a pretty chill class considering we finished early. Really looking forward for the next few weeks and I can’t wait until I flesh out my idea for my final piece.
Until next blog post. Ciao!
