Reflection on Lecture week 6

In this weeks lectorial, Paul Ritchard came into discuss how and the importance of being a media operator. I found it good being able to get insight as to how and why some interviews do not go as planned, and that there are a lot of rules that come with operating media. As a media operator, I learnt it is always important to be organized and plan in advance, to make sure the interviewee is prepared and comfortable. And also to ensure that all forms are completed such as the release form and the location form. What I found interesting, from what Paul Ritchard said, was that operating media will most of the time not always go to plan, that maybe an actor you had in mind will not show up to the filming, so always have a back up in mind. He related this to the idea of serendipity, that it could be for the best that something didn’t work originally when operating media. This therefore puts perspective on the idea of the interview, that it is ok if things do not go to plan, as things will eventually work out.
