Phrases

We were given two phrases, and asked to work out what they mean

a convivial making.

  • convivial mean an atmosphere or event (friendly, lively and exciting)

the truculent clamour of things.

  • truculent meaning eager to argue or fight
  • a loud or confused noise

so what is the meaning of this

well …

a convivial making could be in reference to what effect things can have in an environment. How does the atmosphere effect things. Or perhaps what associations do things have to an atmosphere, is it the thing that makes the atmosphere of does the atmosphere have an effect on the thing

the truculent clamour of things appear to feel like the opposite of a convivial making. Perhaps inferring to the loud and obtrusive effect of things.

I think the meaning of these appear to have opposing views from a friendly and uplifting environment to perhaps a dark or aggressive section of things. maybe a different way of describing the good and the bad.

I really want to discuss this more in class to gain a greater depth of what this means.

so in class we spoke more about this,

imagining being at the botanical gardens and sitting down feeling peaceful and calm we thought about what the truculence and clamour of things could be. Swans were of the objects we came up with. We need to use this way of thinking to go further with ideas and use this in our upcoming assignments
