Media 1 Creative self portrait – review and discussion

Screen Shot 2016-03-09 at 3.02.37 pmSo after uploading our self portrait to our blogs we took a little bit of time to see what others had done and discussed using the hat method there work, what we liked, what could be improved etc.

This I was at first really hesitant about, I often feel embarrassed and shy to showcase my work, which I think is something I will be facing a lot over the duration of my course and throughout my career. However I think as time progresses when I become more confident about the work I am producing I am sure that I will be more excited to share my ideas and vision with others.

I really enjoyed taking the time to see what other people in my group did, it was interesting to see that whilst we all filled the brief we all had such different visions and perspectives of ourselves and how we communicate a story through different mediums.

To get the conversation going we were each given a “hat” so to speak that was what our focus was when commenting on the work of those around us. My hat was to focus on my initial gut response and emotion, the general consensus that I got from the work of those around me was how different everyone was, some where really well put together I felt from the media I saw that each person around the table new who they were. They were able to showcase their own style and were able to communicate themselves as individuals.

I think the main notes we could all take on board was to go deeper, explore more, get more creative and have a bit more diversity amongst audio, video and photos. This is something I will defiantly strive to do when completing our next assignment which is editing together a creative self portrait.
