I wanted this blog to be brief but in our workshop someone brought up how people change online, how people feel more confident to comment and post on Facebook, articles etc. because they are hidden behind the internet. This whole concept fascinates me, its even one of those things were people feel more able to have a conversation with people over messenger than they do in real life. I find it so interesting that one media form can completely change a person in who they are in their day to day life. ‘Catfish’ both the TV show and the movie is a documentary on online relationships and how people establish lasting and intimate connections online. Often the truth is that they are not who they say they are as they have created a fake life over social media. If you haven’t already make sure you check it out.
