Group Work Work Work Work

Im sure as we all have, my past experiences in group work has been both positive and negative. I have had a few amazing groups were we all were on the same page and created amazing work and in complete juxtaposition I’ve had groups where nothing went right and as a result our work was inadequate. So from my previous assignment I have come to a realisation I not only want but need to produce better work. When this assignment comes along I want to make sure that I can do everything I can to ensure we work as a team and produce professional quality work. So after years of group work experience here is what I’ve learnt and will use when working in a group.

  1. Be able to compromise, don’t ever think your idea is the most important
  2. Always try and figure out a way to use everyone idea together if you cant all agree on one idea
  3. When working in a group, make it your best effort to be nice and considerate, always avoid conflict by trying to be reasonable and just discuss differences
  4. Be open, do not be closed minded (other people will have ideas you would never have even considered and they could be amazing)
  5. always pull your equal share of the workload
  6. put in effort to both work and group meetings
  7. help each other out, that what teamwork is all about

Another thing you have to account for is that in school not everyone wants to be there so they have no motivation to do the work whereas people choose this course because they want to learn and come out of it with a degree. So with this in mind I feel naturally working in a group should (hopefully) work out easier because at the end of the day we all have similar interests and share the a similar goal to work hard in the course to learn about media for later in life when we work in the industry.
