Reflection

We currently have about 4 days until our final film is due and I think things have really picked up. We have gathered majority of our sources, footage and audio. I still gather a quick piece of audio from my dad. Penelope is in the process of writing a poem and will get that recorded which we intend at the moment to piece this at the start and end of our film to link it together. We began editing yesterday and this started by assorting our footage into the different people and started editing them together into short vignette style pieces. This is the stage we are currently at, we have the bulk of our film down packed. Now its about pairing the right audio quotes or spoken words to match with the footage. We also have to figure out how to create a beautifully flowing and cohesive piece. Even up to this point our film is still very much trial and error, we are constantly experimenting with what will look and sound good. Its really interesting to note how our idea has developed so much. Thinking back to the first week of this project we jumped onto Tim’s idea and since then we have taken that idea and deconstructed and explored ever part of it. we as a group have really connected and I think that for me that has been the most enjoyable process. We have got to know each other on a deeper level and really worked well as a team, I feel like this process has been made so fun and simple and exciting because Ive had the pleasure of working with such wonderful people. As a group this idea of the moment has developed into something much more than just a film, we have had countless hour long conversations about this film allowing us to fully grasp our head around this concept. Now in this stage of the film is when we see how the film communicates that. I think as a group we are planning on it being short sequences of different people all captured in their individual moment and their audio interview will be overlaid onto that footage, we then hope to link this with a poem about the idea we have constructed. We have established that this moment and being in this state of flow is really about not overthinking and immersing yourself in the present, to ignore what has happened and what may happen. We establish that through multiple discussions with people that children are almost the epitome of this idea because we have noted that as we age our mind begins to complicate life and this is where overthinking happens and we often loose this moment. Many of the people we have talked to do not appear in the film but this was a way for us to gain better insight into this concept. We spoke to friends, family, strangers, each other many of these discussion unrecorded but this was a way for us to live in that present and really understand why people loose this ‘moment’ . I think with this in mind it was important for us to capture people in times where they can go into that space. So far I’m really enjoying the process and am looking forward to it all coming together over the next few days.

I have also drawn inspiration from other films such as I am Eleven  which i think shows a similar thing exploring a topic by gathering the ideas from different people around and letting them make up the story filling gin gaps as you go.

Here are a few stills from the different subjects we have in our film.
