Observation #13

Literal Communication.

Communication doesn’t have to be through sound. 2 females about my age are having a conversation, they are both using sign language to ‘speak’ to each other. Whilst I myself can’t understand sign language I am still able to get a sense of what they are talking about, they’re body language, facial expression and in general the movements they make with their hands can allow me to interpret. The girls are excited about something they are smiling and making large movements, she is fist pumping into the air as she points to something on her phone and the other is doing a thumbs up sign.

A potential film idea for this is focused on the idea of physical communication to tell a story or something, really honing in on peoples body language, facial expression and all the intricacies of that. This could perhaps include many close up shots of the way we as humans express ourselves in our natural form. The way we communicate with each other. The way we greet, eat, sleep, show affection, show anger or sadness in an array of clips that are all raw and no staged. The closeness of all the shots could perhaps be a way of communicating the detail and intricacy of the human form. Perhaps some shots would be slightly ambiguous where the viewer has to figure out whats being shown.
