Observation #10

Observation 1

an overwhelming grey tone fills the sky, not ounce of blue sky to be seen. droplets of water fall from the sky. splattering on the window as i sit inside in the warmth. my window had morphed into a stream of water like a waterfall made by nature. The sound changes in tone and volume as it gets heavier and lighter. A constant rainfall however reminds me of being so calm and at peace.

Film Idea

So this observation was very small very limited and when I try to conjure a film idea my mind instantly goes to the film we watched in class of the different shots of rain from all the different angles and places. Which I actually found really engaging and I really enjoyed.

I think for this I could perhaps see an form of experimental film to be developed. When I watched The Dante Quartet by Stan Brakhage [1987], I really felt that despite there being no real narrative to it, it still told a story and it communicated so much emotion via its form.

I would envision perhaps for this I could collate a serious of shots playing with focus and exposure. I would want to use a lot of zoom and by using close ups of things in the rain that are perhaps unidentifiable at first glance. It could involve maybe someone walking in the rain with a red umbrella and they journey through the rain. Told by many close ups of the person and their surroundings. I think the main progression of this might involve how the main subject is trying to escape the rain and the umbrella is their only protection but by the end they take down the umbrella and take in nature as it is.
