New Wave of E&M

This weeks reading had us looking act and interesting article about E&M ( Entertainment and Media) companies and the growth and projections of this new wave of media and how this growth is affecting the market through, demographic, consumption, geographical location etc…

I thought a fascinating element for this weeks reading was its look of the market place and how such a growth in media and online traffic as well as the various and driving (heads) of  media being the Internet, video entertainment, publishing, music, and video games are finding most E&M’s struggling to keep up and project where the media industry is going. The look at how western civilisation and other countries consume media was quite interesting and I believe further research in this is required due to its mass growth, but the real topic that i found the most fascinating in all of this was the youth market and how companies need to initiate change to keep up or risk falling flat. Whilst old forms of media weather out of date (analog) or just unpopular media never truely die, companies are forced to have to keep up with the way that the youth demographic works and the changing of the times to distribute their media in digital waves that are assessable and affordable to catch this generation of media growths eye.

I believe all in all this article further articulates the importance of change and the necessity for companies to diversify in many different fields or risk dropping off the map. Keeping up to date and future projection is hard, even learning the things we are in class for our own research projects is daunting. But with the market projections set and the information that this article does state, companies need to work hard to keep up with the times and work to create a successful form of steady and current revenue of E&M for the masses.
