I am actually looking forward to seeing a lot of strange things that i not noticing before. But when I was in the Southern Cross railway station, I found that I was more familiar the place than I imagined. This actually did not give me more benefits for the shooting, because of “blind spots”. “Blind spot” is the longest topic my partner and i talked about in class, when he looked at my video, he found a place he did not notice before, because this is his visual blind spot, he did not pay attention to this place Because every time he was busy to get on/off the train and no time or did not want to go to see other places. So we have come to the conclusion that, often in the familiar place, your blind spots will become more, because you will subconsciously ignore a lot of things.
Compared to our videos, you can find that our shooting method is very different. I will choose a relatively large perspective to show what I want to record (a bit like the first perspective of shooting, I shot what my eyes see). And the speed of my shot is more inclined to slow, often have a pause Shooting (the picture is still), and my partner he prefers to shoot smaller, specific things, or from a particular content to a large perspective, and his mobile camera speed is relatively fast, when He will shoot around the landscape he will choose to move around quickly.
In this process of work, I can experience the feeling of “noticing” seriously. This feeling is very wonderful, when I stood the train station ready to shoot, and people around me they may bored and waiting for the tram or walk around, no one knows they may have missed any interesting things. And only me know that I have noticed something, like i give meaning to something which people don’t care or think don’t have meaning , like I have a secret that people do not know, really interesting.
