As a matter of fact, when sound is touched upon in the last a few courses, I have been thinking if sound stimulates more imagination. When I listen to a piece of sound record, what is pictured in my mind may not correspond with what is in the record. Henceforth, I conducted this experiment to prove this notion.
My plan is as below:
Equipment: the recording system in my mobile phone
Venue: my room
Content: to record the sound when I do housework-change sheets on my bed
A basic defect about this experiment is that there is much noise in mobile recording that affects the quality of sounds recorded. If I am to make contents associated with sound record in the future, I should adopt professional recorders so as to ensure sound stability. With imperfect recording quality, though, I discovered something different when listening to this record despite the fact that I knew it is a sound from making my bed. In other words, you don’t know from which source the sound is exactly originated if you merely listen to this record. This is extraordinary. When able to look at a picture, you hear everything as it ought to be, which is in accordance with the picture you see. However, if there is only sound without picture, possibilities vary. It could be anything, as long as you imagine.
