#3 Lenny Edit with Music https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NRzBri1E_KOGCmLIheFWmNk5FFZrnvE0/view?usp=sharing

This task was really fun to edit, especially because it was organised with the shots already done and a clear storyline. Refreshing from a lot of the stuff I have edited before that was poorly organised.

I liked approaching this task methodically because it made things a lot more stress free. Knowing the keyboard shortcuts such as ‘I’ for in and ‘o’ for out and the ‘,’ key to copy it into the sequences was time saving. Editing becomes a lot more fun that way when you’re not constantly moving an arrow around a screen.

Sorting the assets into bins was also helpful to stay organised in the project. The only thing I want to double check on at this point would be the nested sequences, I can’t remember exactly how to use this in the project.

Collecting music for the music bank is also a helpful tip because I do often have music as an after thought, and it’s at this exact moment when I can’t find any decent music or sound. It was also great to have come across a website that provides some links to different copy right free music sites.

In my Lenny music edit, I tried to keep the shot selection simple because I don’t like too many different angles and too many shots. I didn’t find the shot of her limping across the court yard and sitting down completely necessary, only because we already know she’s limping and that time is of the essence.

In future I will also remember to think about eye-line and the direction of which characters are walking, to make sense of the space.

Filming over zoom is a little tricky but I am hopeful that we will all get better at it once we understand our way around zoom a little better.

So far it is little difficult matching character movement’s between cuts, especially because directing over zoom is tricky when you can’t physically adjust the camera yourself. With more practice I think the editing can become more seamless when given more time, practice and planning. I do see how this is a learning opportunity in matching characters eye-lines. By matching the correcting eye-lines to the charters it can look like they are in the same space, like how it would look in real life scene.
