Day five and I’m drained… but alas, I shall continue.
Today I’m going to run through a general online media use for myself in a typical day, I’ll write about what I generally do from wake-up to fall-asleep and everywhere in between. Here we go!
9am: I usually wake up around this time, I’ll generally check the following things:
- Facebook, quick scroll and get up to date, check trending topics and any notifications.
- Instagram, again a quick scroll through the feed – I’ll check @TheShadeRoom to catch up on news I may have missed while asleep.
- Quick check of Snapchat and Twitter.
- Check any other notifications from online media such as emails for work (Jimmy Grants) and then also my personal and school accounts; also any iMessages that I may have received.
10am: I’m usually on my way to work now or at work, so checking emails again and reply to these. I’ll also do the following:
- Quick scroll through all social media platforms.
- Transfer money using my BankSA app, this is important if purchasing anything.
12pm: At this time I generally will have meetings and they can be through various platforms:
- We have a couple of live video chatĀ meetings a week, this could be via Skype, FaceTime or a 3rd party platform.
- Dial-in meetings, so over the phone using a connection.
4pm: I tend to have a break from work around this time. In a half an hour I can fit a HELL of a lot of social media checks into this time:
- I will watch my Snapchat stories during this time, these are a great way to find out what you’re friends are doing (and silently judge) as well as being up to date with world news with Snapchat’s news feature.
- I now also check Instagram stories and Facebook Messenger stories (so many stories, so little time).
- A quick whip-around to check all other social media and/or reply to emails – but I do like to take this 30 minutes to de-stress from work related matters.
10pm: I finish work this time (thank The Lord!) so as soon as I get home I like to do a couple things:
- Read the news from today both via Instagram’s @TheShadeRoom as well as news.com.au’s webpage – I need to be up to date with what’s going on around me!
- Again, selfishly, I like to check all social media platforms one last time before lights-out.
- I like to watch a couple of TV shows, these could be via YouTube, or through the website for the particular show. This de-stresses me after a long day of work and put’s an insomniac like me straight to bed.
Very rough, I know, but at least you get a full length style insight into my life. Obviously this isn’t the extent of everything, but you get a taste!
