blog #74: first step in a long journey

Yesterday was my first time on air presenting my own show! It was such a thrill, I really enjoyed my time on air at 3RRR and hope that one day I would be able to broadcast my own show weekly across any radio platform. Our interviews all contained great content which I’m super happy with! Guy from GABS was a stand-up Aussie bloke with a lot to say about something that all Aussie’s love – beer! Nat from the ACMI show ‘The Second Woman’ was a beautiful and eloquent speaker and made for a great live interview. Finally, Positive Women’s Autumn gave some great insight into a topic that is often pushed aside. I told my family to all tune in and they all gave some positive feedback and also some constructive criticism which made me feel really good about my time on 3RRR.

I’m really hoping that yesterday’s show was the first step in a long radio career, this is my end goal and I’m happy that in my second year of living in a different state that I’ve finally ticked something off the bucket list! It was everything I’ve expected and more! I’ve had a little bit of experience with radio before, having broadcast live from the Garden of Unearthly Delights for Adelaide’s SAFM, as well as a little bit of experience at Adelaide’s 3RRR equivalent called Fresh FM – but I can safely say that hosting your own show is a lot more intense than a 1 or 2 minute feature.

I’ll be talking more about the show through my ROAR annotations, but for now just wanted to check in and say that the show went well! No major stuff ups – I couldn’t be happier!
